Buy Cherries – CLOSED for 2024
How to buy cherries
Available from mid/late November 2024 to early January 2025 (weather depending)
2024 Orchard Shop – $26/kg 1st grade & $19/kg 2nd grade
Our shop for gate sales is located at the entrance of Cherrybank Orchard, 2154 State Highway 1, Spring Creek – on the highway between Picton and Blenheim.
Our hours of business may vary, however in cherry season the shop is open from 8.00am to 5.00pm seven days a week. Our shop is closed Christmas and Boxing Day and New Years Day.
We also have a pop up stall in Alabama Road (between Scott Street & Weld Street) and will be at the Farmers Market each Sunday once cherries are available.
Follow us on Cherrybank Orchard facebook page to get notification of when we are open/closed.
Our season is weather dependent and usually runs from mid November to early January.
2024 PYO – $17/kg
We open our orchard for Pick Your Own during the cherry season – PYO hours are usually 9am to 4.30pm.
Our orchard is a working orchard and therefore has contracted pickers, machinery and vehicles on site. Please note there are multiple hazards through the orchard and we have strict, clearly marked areas where you are able to PYO. Whilst we do provide ladders for PYO, please ensure that you use these ladders as instructed and take care when moving ladders in the orchard. The ground is uneven so please take care moving through the orchard.
Children are to be supervised on the orchard and we ask that you do not climb the trees as this causes damage to our trees. Whilst we do not mind you trying our yummy cherries, we would ask that you refrain from lunching on them until you have paid for what you have picked.
We provide picking buckets for PYO, although you are welcome to bring your own container (please have own container weighed prior to picking). A staff member will show you to the PYO area and show you how to properly pick your fruit (leaving stalks on will ensure your cherries last longer). When you have finished picking, return to the shop where your bucket will be weighed and you pay for what you have picked.
Online Orders – CLOSED for 2024 season
Orders from mid November – email orders@cherrybank.nz
COURIER – If you cannot make the trip to our orchard, we do offer online orders. Please email us with your name, physical address for courier, what you would like to purchase & date for delivery. Cherry prices are $27 for a 1kg box, $53 for a 2kg box and $132 for a 5kg box for first grade cherries. We will email you with the cost of courier and cherries and payment details and dispatch your cherries. Please note that we cannot guarantee advance orders out of season due to our dependence on weather and fruit availability.
We like our cherries to be picked fresh and dispatched to you so that they arrive in top condition. We take great care to ensure top quality cherries leave our orchard but please note that we do not have any control over their transit. Cherries need to be kept cold and arrive quickly to their destination and whilst we request overnight delivery it may take longer closer to Christmas. We dispatch cherries Monday to Wednesday and rural delivery Monday or Tuesday to ensure they arrive in good condition. We will advise you of dispatch date and tracking for your courier.
If you are in a rural delivery area it will take longer for delivery. We will notify you if there is any problems with dispatching your order. The courier will have permission to leave your cherries in a safe location if there is no one home to receive. Please add any special delivery instructions to your email so we can pass these on to the courier.
Due to increased freight volumes in the lead up to Christmas, we cannot guarantee next day delivery will always be achieved.
Cherries FAQS
How long will my cherries keep for?
Cherries will keep for up to two weeks (possibly longer) if they are kept in the fridge and they are in good condition with stalks intact. Cherries are best kept cold so keep in the fridge.
Can I freeze my cherries?
Yes very easily. Place them in a freezer bag, remove any excess air, seal and freeze. We like to take the stones out before we freeze ours. Great for baking, smoothies, coulis and other cherry recipes!
How long will it take for my cherries to arrive?
From dispatch date our courier takes 1-2 days for delivery. At busy times this may take an extra day, and you should allow for an extra 2-3 days for rural delivery. If you are not sure whether you need rural delivery check on the courier website. We use Post Haste for courier deliveries.
Can I send cherries to my friends and family overseas?
Sorry, no we only courier to New Zealand addresses.
